It’s not really important if the blood on the cover of CREATURE is real or not, you don’t need to worry about that right now. Nor need you concern yourself with the blank, feral stare belonging to the face covered in blood. Just relax in knowing that for now Amelia Riggs is sated and calm. For now. CREATURE is a patchwork like its title implies; a combination of multiple home studio sessions, different setups, tape loop experiments, fog-like guitars, Amelia’s nervous slither of a voice slinking between your ears, drums melting, pianos jittering, and the most midi saxophone you will hear in the year 2025.

 CREATURE was inspired by, among other works of violent transformation and reclamation, “My Words To Victor Frankenstein Above the Village of Chamounix” by trans scholar and professor Susan Stryker. The original essay speaks of trans rage and rebirth and rage as rebirth. Rebuilding yourself into something beautiful and terrifying and very, very powerful. Sections of the essay are read on the album by poet Gion Davis and actress/activist Athena Sadler. CREATURE is ultimately a noisy, gooey, oftentimes tender album about people tearing each other apart (with and without consent). It is a raw nerve and as unclassifiable as a monster seeing sunlight for the first time. Reaching, screaming, in love, bloody, dangerous, and unable to ever be killed.
